Second person dead after car accident, investigation pending

Every single day, thousands of people head out on the open road whether for pleasure or work. While the vast majority of these trips thankfully occur without incident, there are some that unfortunately end in tragedy. As a recent car accident in Gary shows, these situations can claim lives and leave many questions.

Two cars were involved in an accident that has now claimed two lives and has injured five more. The latest victim, a 58-year-old woman, died nearly two weeks after the initial incident while the first was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say that it appears one of the vehicles did not yield at a stoplight, causing the accident. Which vehicle that was, however, is still under investigation, leading to questions and frustration for all involved.

These types of incidents are never easy, especially when a loved one is lost. Aside from the initial stress of losing a family member, there are many other details that consume lives such as funeral expenses, medical expenses, possible lost wages, and more. These types of stressors can be extremely difficult to handle on your own, especially when the exact cause of the accident isn't known.

In this particular situation (and any instance of a devastating car accident), having an experienced legal guide is crucial. Depending on the outcome of the crash investigation, both parties will need proper representation so that justice can be served. If negligence is indeed a factor, certain damages may be able to be recovered such as the aforementioned funeral and medical bills. Having the assistance of an experienced attorney can help those involved move forward with solid plan of legal action.
