There are many ways we help after a pedestrian injury

There are many people in New Albany, as well as in Floyd County and in other parts of the Louisville metropolitan area who choose to walk or ride a bicycle to work, school or just around town for fun. People who are driving in cars have an obligation to be on the lookout for pedestrians and bicyclists and to give them the same courtesy and respect as they would another car.

When motorists fail in this obligation, a pedestrian or bicyclist can suffer serious injuries or even die. Given the size and weight difference between a car and a pedestrian or even a bicyclist, severe head trauma, spinal cord damage, paralysis and loss of an arm or leg are all too common in these types of collisions. People who get injured in this way will need and deserve full compensation for their losses.

Logically, it makes sense to look at the driver of the vehicle for compensation first. Unfortunately, drivers often carry minimal insurance just to comply with Indiana or Kentucky law but not nearly enough to truly compensate an injured victim. It may be necessary for the injured person's experienced personal injury attorney, like those at our law office, to look for other sources of compensation.

In this respect, our office has taken several different types of pedestrian and bicycle accidents that involved more than one possible source of recovery. For instance, we have represented victims who were trying to cross an intersection that had been poorly designed, as well as those injured in a parking garage who have had a premises liability claim against the owner of the garage.

Pedestrian accidents are difficult for victims and their families, but, especially with the right legal help, getting a good financial recovery from the accident is possible.
