Safety Violations at Southern Indiana Foundry

Indiana regulators have issued a safety order against a southern Indiana foundry following an investigation into an employee's workplace injury. The Department of Labor says the Waupaca Foundry has safety violations that include not following safety procedures and insufficient barricades. Department of Labor spokeswoman Amanda Stanley says the employee injured in the July 17 accident at Waupaca's Tell City operation was doing electrical maintenance when an electrical flash occurred. That flash caused second- and third-degree burns to the employee's right arm, as well as first-degree facial burns.
